<div>The Wakker Prize (Wakkerpreis, Prix Wakker, Premio Wakker) is given every year by the Swiss Heritage Society to a municipality of Switzerland for the making and saving of its historical buildings.<br />
<br />
In 2005, the prize was given to the Swiss Federal Railways, rather than a municipality.<br />
<br />
The prize is named for Henri-Louis Wakker, a Swiss?banker?and real estate?entrepreneur. His will provided a considerable sum of money without conditions to the Swiss Heritage Society, which in 1972 created the Wakker Prize in his honor.<br />

<hr />
<div>Hurricane Nate was a 2017 Atlantic hurricane. The storm developed on October 4, 2017. It was the costliest natural disaster in the history of Costa Rica. It caused heavy damage and fatalities in Central America while a tropical storm.<br />
<br />
The storm became a hurricane while moving through the Yucatán Channel. Nate moved north-northwest at 29 miles an hour. It was the fastest-moving tropical cyclone ever recorded in the Gulf of Mexico. The hurricane later struck southeast Louisiana and southern Mississippi as a Category 1 hurricane. Nate was the fourth hurricane in the year to strike the United States or its territories. That had not happened in 12 years.<br />
<br />
Nate caused 16 deaths in Nicaragua, 14 in Costa Rica, 7 in Panama, five in Guatemala, three in Honduras, two in the United States and one in El Salvador. The number of people killed by Nate was 48. Damage from Nate was $787 million USD.<br />
<br />
The name Nate was retired on April 11, 2018 for its damage and death toll. It was replaced with Nigel for the 2023 season.<br />

<hr />
<div>On 26 November 2020, a mass general strike was held across India. Some people have estimated that 250 million (25 crore) people took part in the strike. If that number is correct, then it would be the biggest strike in history. The strike was jointly called by ten central trade unions – Indian National Trade Union Congress (INTUC), All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS), Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), All India United Trade Union Centre (AIUTUC), Trade Union Co-ordination Centre (TUCC), Self-Employed Women's Association (SEWA) and All India Central Council of Trade Unions (AICCTU), Labour Progressive Federation (LPF) and United Trade Union Congress (UTUC).<br />
<br />
All over the country, both public and private sector employees participated in the strike. The united front of the over 250 farmers' organizations, All India Kisan Sangharsh Co-ordination Committee (AIKSCC), extended support to the trade union strike and the unions extended their support to the farmers’ “Chalo Delhi” (Go to Delhi) mobilisation on 26 and 27 November. Farmers are protesting against recent anti-farmer laws, which would withdraw the government's minimum support price for farm products, with serious implications for farmers’ income and livelihoods.<br />
<br />
The unions protested against the three new Labour Codes – the Industrial Relations Code Bill, 2020; the Code on Social Security Bill, 2020; and the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code Bill, 2020 – that were passed by both houses of the Parliament earlier in 2020.<br />

<br />
== History ==<br />
At the time of its founding in 1810, there was pressure to make the new university both practical and industrial. Von Humboldt wanted it to be a center for the pursuit of truth in learning. In the end, he won out. The University was set up under his principles. In 1828 it was formally renamed the Frederick-William University. The university was named in honor of the reigning monarch, Frederick William III of Prussia. The university offered the traditional faculties of law, medicine, theology, and philosophy. Emperor William made several establishments at the University. One of these was the professorship of "American History". It is now called the "Theodore Roosevelt professorship". It required the position be filled by an American professor who must lecture in German. In an interview with then president Butler of Columbia University, a second professorship in Berlin was established with a lectures in English taught by a German professor.<br />
<br />
From 1933 to 1945, under Nazism, the university lost many of its Jewish scholars and students. Some were killed. On May 10, 1933 many university books were burned. Before World War II Humboldt was still the major university in Berlin. After the war the university was greatly weakened. It reopened in January 1946. It was in the Soviet sector of Berlin. Many students and faculty wanted to continue their education free of communist government control. With the help of the US Army and donations from the United States government, the Free University of Berlin was established in 1948 in West Berlin. <br />
<br />
In 1949 the university was given its present name, Humboldt-University of Berlin (Humboldt-Universit?t zu Berlin), to honor the brothers Alexander and Wilhelm von Humboldt. The university underwent a number of changes by the government of East Berlin in the 1950s. But it regained its importance as a major center of learning.<br />
<br />
== The university today ==<br />
The university got its start reflecting the principles of the great educational reformer Wilhelm von Humboldt. It pioneered many new academic disciplines. In spite of its problems in the 20th century, the university has returned to its founding principles. There are 260 degree courses offered. The university has an academic staff of about 2,170 and 35,000 students. it is currently ranked 80th among the world's universities. It has been informally called "Berlin University" throughout its history. Also, informally, the "University of Linden" (Universit?t unter den Linden) after its location.<br />

<br />
Bark is the covering of the stems of woody plants, like trees. Bark protects the tree. Bark of different plants and trees can look very different, it can be rough or smooth and can have different colors. It is the outer layer of tree trunks.<br />
<br />
Most of the bark grows from the vascular cambium. Some outer parts of the bark sometimes come from a cork cambium. In the bark are lenticels which allow gases to move in and out of those inner tissues which have living cells.<br />
<br />
Bark of one kind or another has been on trees from the Carboniferous period. It is obvious on stems and branches, and on some kinds of storage organs.<br />
